fOXX Down Machine

made by Ridinger Associates Inc, Chatsworth/CA, early 1970s

fOXX Down Machine, 1974

The fOXX Down Machine was presumably the first Wah Wah designed for bass. Working units are pretty scarce today since for unknown reasons the capacitors had a strong tendency to dry out fast. During the 80s and 90s - before people became aware of how good these Down Machines really are - people trashed their non working pedals, albeit it would have been an easy fix. Too bad...

Retail price 1974: $69.95 USD
