Boss SD-1 Super Over Drive

produced: 1981 to present

Boss SD-1 Super Over Drive, 1981

Though Boss' OD-1 preceeded the Tube Screamer by almost one year, the Ibanez pedal had a somewhat better start by offering a tone control and thus a wider tonal range. As an answer to the problem Boss came up with the SD-1. The pedal contains the same asymmetric overdrive circuit as the OD-1, which responds very well to the player's attack, plus an additional tone control. The SD-1 is deemed as a benchmark for a dynamic and smooth overdrive effect as well as a booster pedal for valve amplifiers, because it maintains the natural tone of the guitar.
